TechNavio Announces the Publication of its Report – Global SAN Market 2011–2015
TechNavio today launched its report Global Storage Area Network (SAN) Market 2011–2015 based on an in-depth study covering the Americas, and the EMEA and APAC regions. The report aims to aid decision makers’ understanding of the present and the future landscape of the Global SAN market.

Commenting on the report, an analyst from TechNavio’s Networking team said, ‘’There is increased adoption of virtualization in organizations and all vendors are eager to demonstrate that their products work efficiently in virtualized environments. Hardware support for the vSphere API for Array Integration (VAAI) is one of the key selling points for SAN and the majority of vendors are offering solutions that are enhanced with this feature. VAAI increases performance and moves data from the VMware vSphere hypervisor to the SAN storage array. Almost all vendors have also started providing plug-ins for vCenter, permitting arrays to be managed and monitored through a single vCenter support. Other features such as thin provisioning are being proposed for virtualized environments. Virtualization communication is being strongly endorsed by end-users because it is expected to enable integrated hardware stacks and cloud computing.”

According to the report, the main driver of the Global SAN market is the scalability of the solution. With a SAN, there is no restriction or limitation on the volume of data that can be stored as is the case with other forms of storages such as disk storage. SANs can be developed to an extent where it is as good as large number of disks in size, which would be highly beneficial.

Further, the report also discusses that one of the challenges that SAN vendors face is the lack of human resources that have specialized network skills.

The study was conducted using an objective combination of primary and secondary information including inputs from key participants in the industry. The report contains a comprehensive market and vendor landscape in addition to a SWOT analysis of the key players.
