The Economist Intelligence Unit, September 2012, Pages: 15
The premier, McKeeva Bush, presented the government's fiscal year 2012/13 (July-June) budget on August 20th, despite not receiving approval from the UK's Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) to do so.
In recent months the budget issue has dominated the political scene, with the government's first budget proposal rejected by the UK in June. The current fiscal year began in June and a budget is not yet in place.
Following vehement criticism from business leaders, the government was forced to abandon a 10% income tax on foreign workers as part of new revenue measures. The August budget included 24 new revenue measures.
