This report supplies information on the competitors typologies of the tour operators Italian market: types of operators, by segment, by nationality or ownership structure, ranking of companies in terms of turnover, net income, competitive positions, breakdown by business segment, regional breakdown, are studied in depth in this report.
The activity is considered to be aimed at providing tour packages for vacation purposes.
- Product technology: formulation and creation of vacation packages comprised of various types of services (travel only, shuttle services, accommodations, complementary services). The packages are made up on the basis of the different personal and target requirements, vary in accordance with the amounts of services that are included, and can provide for various levels of customization.
- Function: the packages are aimed at responding to the various needs of the targets. In general they have the objective of offering a ready-to-go trip (which does not involve loss of time and effort for the user) and/or one that is as personalized as possible (offering particular facilities and dedicated services).
- Client groups: intermediate clients who perform the function of mediators between the tour operator and the actual user of the service (online portals like Expedia, Tui, Opodo, Last Minute.com, Edreams),
and end customers who turn directly to the tour operator (and can be subdivided into families, group trips, business trips, etc.).
Tour operators perform the function of intermediaries between the end customer and the service providers, which the customer may use at the time of the trip, making available various combinations of tour packages. The offering of these services therefore includes various opportunities, from the simple stay (in Italy or abroad) providing for accommodation in hotels or tourist resorts (referred to as all-inclusive when all the services are included in the price), to cruises, to booking the air travel only.
The following segments are considered:
- holiday resorts;
It is possible to identify a further segmentation if one analyzes the users of the offerings, the end customers: customers who travel for business or work-related reasons and people who turn to tour operators only for the scheduling of their vacations. The main difference between these two categories regards both the frequency of use (business people and workers travel very often, especially in certain sectors) but also the type of service selected (probably the plane trip only will be the service most requested by the working
In order to draw up the Competitors report, the Databank method foresees the screening of the main realities of the sectors and various one-to-one interviews with the selected players. All this is then completed via:
- the gathering of information questionnaires that are filled out by the main companies on an annual basis;
- the checking of the gathered information by a sector expert, using a verification system that guarantees maximum reliability and consistency;
