Abstract
Standard & Poor's Ratings Services assigned its 'A+' long-term rating to the University of North Carolina Board of Governors' series 2012 A and 2012B (taxable) general revenue bonds issued for the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG). Standard & Poor's also affirmed its 'A+' underlying rating on the board's bonds previously issued for UNCG. The outlook on all ratings is stable. The rating reflects our view of UNCG's strong history of state operating and capital support, current improvement in financial operations, and overall growth in enrollment. However, the university's overall debt has grown significantly from $110 million in 2009 to approximately $270 million after the issuance of the series 2012 bonds.
