Two introductory chapters give an overview of current European & US legislation and provide an introduction to a number of typical waste water treatment works via photographs and process flow diagrams.
Treatment options for specific pollutants, including nutrients and odours, are reviewed and the reasons for selecting appropriate processes are discussed. A final chapter reviews the potential for reuse of treated waste water.
