Despite the current global economic uncertainty and the prospect of lower oil prices for the remainder of 2012, Standard & Poor's Ratings Services believes the flame won't dim on Asia-Pacific oil and gas companies. We expect the ratings on these companies to remain stable for the following reasons: Conservative assumptions in our base-case forecasts; Continuing growth in regional energy demand; and Ample liquidity. A rising oil price trend has led to better-than-expected financial performance for exploration and production (E&P) companies in the past 12 months.
