Abstract
Despite expectations for slower growth, Standard & Poor's Ratings Services' maintains its stable outlook for credit quality in the U.S. environmental services sector for the remainder of 2012 and into 2013. Despite the sluggish economy, waste collection and disposal services are essential, as they have no clear substitutes. As a result, we expect environmental companies to maintain profit margins through cost-cutting and reasonably consistent pricing. In addition, we generally view the industry as recession-resistant?the reason being that most companies have historically sustained satisfactory operating performance during periods of economic weakness and reduced waste volumes.
