The introduction of two innovative agents in early 2004, Genentech/Roche's Avastin (bevacizumab) and BMS/Merck KGaA/ImClone's Erbitux (cetuximab), is expected to significantly alter the treatment landscape for colorectal cancer.

This report examines the key drugs currently in development for colorectal cancer, including sales forecasts to 2012, and their clinical and commercial attractiveness.

Scope of Report:

- Overview of colorectal cancer and the current treatment options, including profiles and analysis of Avastin and Erbitux

- Profiles of key agents in Phase II and III development for colorectal cancer

- Future global sales of key pipeline drugs to 2012, including their clinical/research and commercial attractiveness

- Pipeline analysis of colorectal cancer drugs in development by class and by phase

Report Highlights:

The recent introduction of Avastin and Erbitux into the colorectal cancer market will raise the standard for approval, thus making it more difficult for pipeline drugs to gain approval. However, at the same time, it will increase opportunities for these pipeline drugs to maximize their commercial potential by combining with Avastin and Erbitux.

There is significant pharmaceutical and biotechnology interest in vaccines, reflected by the high number of agents in development in Phase II and III for colorectal cancer. However, cancer vaccines are generally burdened by physicians skepticism and, as a result, they may struggle to establish their presence in the colorectal cancer market.

Signal transduction inhibitors are one of the earliest innovative agents to be launched for cancer. For colorectal cancer, Erbitux represents the class.

Amgen/Abgenix's ABX-EGF is likely to be the main competition for Erbitux but ABX-EGF's third-line indication will be its weak point and therefore, we forecast a low sales potential.

Reasons to Purchase Report:

- Assess opportunities and risks in the colorectal cancer market by analyzing the clinical and commercial attractiveness of key agents

- Evaluate the potential of your product in the colorectal cancer market by examining key pipeline drugs sales forecasts

- Determine the commercial impact of Avastin and Erbitux in the colorectal cancer market and their effects on the current treatment paradigms
