Profound Research and Investment Strategy Analysis of Azelaic Acid Market in China, 2011-2016

Huidian Research, July 2012, Pages: 51

China’s azelaic acid industry is mainly based on medium-sized enterprises. These enterprises give priority to product operation and mainly focus on new product development, marketing, channel construction and some other market contents. However, in these enterprises, the capital operation is not in a dominant status and the overall performance level is relatively low. Domestic small-sized enterprises are not minority and the scales and investments in these enterprises are relatively small. They have virtually no capital operation and don’t own clearly operation direction and core competitiveness, coupled with serious copycat behavior and pay insufficient attention to management, the performance of these small-sized enterprises has been in a low level. Based on human performance, large-scale enterprises seize more develop opportunities through focusing on the build of enterprise culture and making use of external environment. However, there are very few large-scale enterprises in domestic azelaic acid market.

The demand of China’s azelaic acid market is mainly from two aspects, one is production of domestic small medium enterprises, and another is relying on imports. According to the current situation, import and export volume is roughly equal. China mainly imports high-purity azelaic acid and exports low value-added industrial grade azelaic acid. We can say that azelaic acid is one of the high import dependence chemical products.

At present, the enterprises which engaged in the import trade of azelaic acid are hiding in the southeast coastal areas. However, from 2010, production line increased largely, and with the commissioning of the production line, the domestic supply shortage will be eased obviously.

Foreign azelaic acid enterprises develop towards the following directions:

1. Develop towards upsizing and group scale economy;

2. Develop towards the direction of specialization and intensification. The annual sales of foreign extra large production enterprises is high, while the majority of China’s azelaic acid products manufacturers have small production scale, their specialization level is low. Thus, these enterprises are difficult to participate in the international competitions and adapt to China’s industrial development. The domestic enterprises are bound to the direction of specialization and large-scale production.
