After 2013, in 2014 was the second year in a row in which coffee saw retail volume decline. This negative performance was not a result of the economic crisis as was the case earlier in the review period, but a consequence of market saturation. Namely, even though instant coffee posted positive results in 2014, traditional or “Turkish” coffee (standard fresh ground coffee) saw negative retail volume growth, dragging the entire category to negative retail volume performance.
