Q2 2012 Earnings Call - UK & South Africa Q&A - BHP Billiton Ltd., - Call Street Report

The political outlook for the Central African Republic (CAR) remains uncertain owing to continuing violence in rural areas and the disputed re-election of the incumbent, François Bozizé, in early 2011.
Although the disarmament, demobilisation and reintegration process has resumed and donors have re-engaged with the CAR, sporadic violence and instability are expected, especially in remote areas.
The fiscal balance is set to improve on the back of a new extended credit facility arrangement with the IMF, which will guide fiscal consolidation efforts and catalyse donor support.
