Summary: Milder winter cools down OTC healthcare performance in 2004
OTC healthcare in Ireland witnessed another good year in 2004, with sales increasing. Current value growth in 2004 was a bit slower than in 2003 due to a milder winter, which meant there were fewer outbreaks of colds and flu. As a result the largest sectors, analgesics and cough, cold and allergy (hay fever) remedies, recorded current value growth which was slower than that recorded in 2003 by one and two percentage points respectively. Vitamins and dietary supplements was also affected by this, but to a lesser extent, as other factors such as increasing health awareness boosted its development.
