This Microsoft Excel data file presents detailed forecasts of the number of Remote And/or Mobile (RAM)Workers in the US business market for the 2003-2008 period. Forecasts for each type of Remote And/or Mobile Workers Frequent Business Travelers (FBT), Mobile Office Workers (MOW), Telecommuters (TCM), Remote Branch Office Employees (RBO), Multi-site Workers (MSW), and Non-office Workers (NON) are included. Size-of-business detail is presented. Definitions and trend discussions are also embedded in the file.
In-Stat/MDR estimates that US businesses will support approximately 94 million Remote And/or Mobile (RAM) workers by the end of 2004, or nearly 70% of all US employment. Nearly 50 million of these employees work for enterprise firms, representing nearly 88% of employment in this segment. Growth rates in the number of RAM workers are expected to slightly exceed overall employment growth, declining from roughly 4% in 2003 to just more than 2% by 2008. At this time, there are expected to be nearly 105 million RAM workers in the US business market, accounting for more than 72% of employment.
