Digital entertainment set top boxes are exploding. Those connected to anetwork are:

* Digital Cable TV set top boxes

* Digital Satellite TV set top boxes

* Internet Protocol (IP) set top boxes

* Digital Terrestrial set top boxes

All of these boxes use an Operating System (OS). Sitting on top of

Operating Systems are Middleware, which "interpret" between higher level

applications and the Operating System.

Six major trends that will transform the market:

* Creative licensing and royalty options

* Growing use of software modularity

* Use of Middleware to enhance low-end operating systems

* Expansion of available higher level applications

* Portability of applications and "content" to remote or mobile devices

* Accelerating Time-to-Market due to advances in development tools

After 2008, we believe that Middleware software will come into its own,

by adding new functions, features, and services to the ever-growing

installed base of set top boxes.

We expect this market to experience very strong, double-digit growth, with

the worldwide value rising from $218.5 million (US) during 2003, up to

nearly $800 million (US) during 2008.
