In-Stat/MDR, Aug 2004, Pages: 58
As the title implies, the independent Intellectual Property (IP) provider represents the functional design approach to the future, at both the IC and system level. This report relates only to the independent intellectual property provider of logic functions, i.e., those companies whose sole business model is based upon the development and sale and/or license of pre-defined cores, either hard or soft. The independent logic intellectual property provider market will grow from $598.6 million last year, to a projected $1,170.3 million by 2008, translating to a compound annual growth rate of 14.3%.
This report analyzes and forecasts key market indicators and trends for the independent logic IP provider market. The subjects included are: licensing revenues for independent IP providers, including issues and trends; analysis of the various licensing models, including the revenue splits between the various models; examination of hard- versus soft-core usage; major end-use markets to which IP is targeted; geographic revenue breakdown by major region; major vendor rankings for 2003, relative to 2002; and a partial listing of independent IP providers, including functional offerings, core type (hard/soft), and web address. Also included in this report is a user (licensee) survey, which includes the major functions licensed, in total and by core type, licensing model used, and design tools used, along with other subjects and segmentations.
