Abstract
NEW YORK (Standard & Poor's) Jan. 25, 2013--Standard & Poor's Ratings Services said today that its ratings on Nashville, Tenn.-based hospital operator HCA Inc. are unaffected by an order from a Missouri judge that HCA must pay $162 million for failing to meet certain terms of an acquisition several years ago. Specifically, the judge's ruling stated that HCA did not abide by its agreement to make improvements to these Kansas City area hospitals that it acquired in 2003. The company disputes these allegations and intends to appeal. In our view, the magnitude of this judgment, assuming it is upheld, would not have any appreciable effect on the company's financial risk profile or liquidity.
