Sugar rush: Foreign markets and health-conscious adults offer opportunities for growth
Candy Production in the US
Sugar rush
America's sweet tooth kept candy producers resilient during the recession, and the next five years will be marked by even further growth. An increasingly health-conscious marketplace will encourage producers to adapt their product lines to include low-sugar or sugar-free candies. Furthermore, as the number of children aged 12 and under continues to shrink, candy producers will increasingly market their goods to adults. As the domestic market becomes more saturated, the industry will look to foreign markets for growth.
The Candy Production industry acquires raw materials such as sugar, cornstarch, fruit, preservatives, emulsifiers, additives and flavorings to process them into a range of sugar and non-sugar based confectionery including chewing gum and bubble gum. The finished products are then sold to confectionery and grocery wholesalers and retailers. This industry comprises establishments primarily engaged in manufacturing non-chocolate confectionery.
This report covers the scope, size, disposition and growth of the industry including the key sensitivities and success factors. Also included are five year industry forecasts, growth rates and an analysis of the industry key players and their market shares.
