IBISWorld, June 2011, Pages: 31
Sound the alarm: A brief uptick in demand will be followed by a steady decline
Alarm, Horn & Traffic Control Equipment Manufacturing in the US
No cause for alarm
Demand for many of the industry's products relies heavily on building construction activity. Whereas declines in residential and commercial construction hampered this industry's growth over much of the past five years, the anticipated recovery in both of these sectors will bring the industry back from decline this year. However, increasing import penetration and expected decrease in crime will lead to steady revenue declines in the future.
This industry includes firms engaged in manufacturing communications equipment except for telephone apparatus, and radio and television broadcast, and wireless communications equipment. Examples of industry products include alarm systems, hazard detection systems, traffic signals, sirens and intercom systems. Products are used by a variety of industries and by households.
This report covers the scope, size, disposition and growth of the industry including the key sensitivities and success factors. Also included are five year industry forecasts, growth rates and an analysis of the industry key players and their market shares.
