Indian Power Industry
Scope eKnowledge Center Pvt Ltd, Jan 2001, Pages: 39
Electric power is the backbone of any economy and thus any development in the electric power industry will have a significant impact on the over all economic scenario and vice versa. Given the fact that Indian industry is growing at a rate of 6 percent per year, the role of electric power assumes more importance. The Government has taken many liberalization measures in the power generation sector. However, the demand still far-exceeds the supply and power cuts have become everyday reality. Thus, the situation indirectly offers a huge potential for private players, both domestic and overseas.
