Rail Maintenance Services in the US
IBISWorld, June 2011, Pages: 34
On track: Renewed spending and government investment will help revenue rebound
Rail Maintenance Services in the US
On track, but not full steam
The industry has experienced conflicting demand trends that have caused flat growth. Slowed consumer spending during the recession has reduced the need to transport goods, while high fuel costs have transferred demand for freight trucking to rail. As the economy recovers, industry demand will improve, especially in the long term when Obama's high-speed rail initiative kicks in.
This industry provides specialized services for railroad transportation including: servicing; routine repairs (except factory conversion, overhaul or rebuilding of rolling stock); maintenance of railcars; loading and unloading of railcars; and operating independent rail terminals.
This report covers the scope, size, disposition and growth of the industry including the key sensitivities and success factors. Also included are five year industry forecasts, growth rates and an analysis of the industry key players and their market shares.
