Book 'em: Travel budgets return, but tourism websites will compete for consumer and business dollars
Convention & Visitor Bureaus in the US
Holding patterns: The state of the economy and travel-related trends are the main factors driving the Convention and Visitor Bureaus industry. In 2009, the decline of the domestic economy and increased unemployment forced people to be more selective about how they spent their disposable income. As people and companies cut down on spending across the board, they were less likely to spend money on luxuries like vacations and nonessential business trips. The industry also felt negative effects from falling domestic travel and decreasing international arrivals into the United States as the recession deepened and unemployment rose.
Businesses in this industry market and promote communities and local facilities to business and leisure travelers. Operators assist customers in locating meeting and convention sites; provide travel information on an area's attractions and accommodations; provide maps and information brochures; and organize group tours of local historical, recreational and cultural attractions.
This report covers the scope, size, disposition and growth of the industry including the key sensitivities and success factors. Also included are five year industry forecasts, growth rates and an analysis of the industry key players and their market shares.
