Slippery slope: Economic recovery will boost demand, while global warming strains operations
Ski & Snowboard Resorts in the US
Let it snow
As the nation climbs out of one of the most difficult economic periods in its history, many Americans will be anxious to return to their previous spending patterns and vacationing habits. Demand will remain slow in 2011, so companies will continue to engage in fierce price competition in order to bring in visitors, which will lower profit margins for ski resorts. But in the following years, resorts will increasingly package their services in ways that are unique and where premium prices can be charged. In addition, as ski equipment becomes cheaper and more advanced, more consumers will opt to take up the sport.
This industry comprises establishments engaged in operating downhill, cross-country or similar skiing areas or operating equipment, such as ski lifts and tows. These establishments often provide food and beverage services, equipment rental services and ski instruction services. Four-season resorts without accommodations are included in this industry.
This report covers the scope, size, disposition and growth of the industry including the key sensitivities and success factors. Also included are five year industry forecasts, growth rates and an analysis of the industry key players and their market shares.
