Introduction
Repairing the past damage
This industry is one of the few industries that have the potential to benefit from weak economic conditions. On the grand scale of the economy, electronic repairs and maintenance services are considered to be an inferior good: in times of economic prosperity, consumers will replace existing electronics products with new ones rather than repair old equipment. However, in times of economic hardship and falling incomes, consumers are left with no choice but to extend the life of electronic devices by repairing or maintaining them, rather than buying new ones.
