Furniture Repair & Reupholstery in the US
IBISWorld, July 2011, Pages: 29
In need of repair: Competition from low-priced furniture will continue to hurt demand for repairs
Furniture Repair & Reupholstery in the US
Wear and tear
While the recession should have led to revenue growth for the industry, demand remained low because of diminished spending on all discretionary purchases. In the next five years, incomes and consumer confidence will pick up, but both trends will lead to greater spending on new or used furniture rather than repairing or reupholstering old furniture. In particular, low-cost imports will take an increasing share of sales away from industry firms.
This industry is involved in reupholstering, refinishing furniture, repairing and restoring furniture. Participants offer on-site and in-store furniture reupholstery and repair services. Automotive vehicle upholstery repair services and the restoration of museum pieces are not included in this industry.
This report covers the scope, size, disposition and growth of the industry including the key sensitivities and success factors. Also included are five year industry forecasts, growth rates and an analysis of the industry key players and their market shares.
