IBM Rational Fall 2012: Changing Role of Software Driving New Software and Product Development Paradigms
Enterprise Management Associates, February 2013, Pages: 6
On November 7, 2012, IBM Rational announced a slew of new and enhanced solutions addressing both the business and industrial application lifecycles. Building on the theme of "agility with governance", which was the topic of IBM Rational's spring 2012 launch, the announcements substantially extend IBM's capabilities and solutions supporting software development for embedded and product-oriented applications. The announcements also feature new and enhanced solutions focusing on software development for the enterprise.
Industry-specific solutions for medical devices, electronics design, aerospace/defense, and automotive engineering extend the Rational value proposition for companies engaged in large-scale, engineering-focused software delivery. Enhancements and new capabilities supporting continuous delivery, governance, mobile, and mainframe are noteworthy as well.
With a dual focus on supporting business and engineering software development, IBM has revitalized the Rational line and positioned the Rational division for significant future growth. As software "intelligence" becomes the norm for consumer goods, scientific equipment, and embedded systems of every type, Application Lifecycle and Portfolio Management solutions will be increasingly foundational to product development.
