Canada Renewables Report Q1 2013
Business Monitor International, February 2013, Pages: 38
BMI View: In spite of some quantitative changes to our forecasts introduced by a revision in the historical data provided by the EIA, our view on the Canadian renewable market remains largely unchanged. With no national target for renewable energy in place and a very diverse energy mix across the provinces, it is difficult to gauge Canada's green energy agenda. Most notably, Canada's heavy reliance on coal for electricity generation and its recent withdrawal from of the Kyoto agreement would suggest the expansion of renewable technologies is not at the forefront of government policy.
Notwithstanding these issues, the country's considerable natural potential for renewable electricity generation and the positive developments witnessed in some provinces provide some optimism for the industry.
