Impact of the E-Gov Act of 2002
Faulkner, March 2003, Pages: 9
Legislation crafted to improve citizen access to US federal government services via Internet-based information technology, the E-Government Act of 2002 is meant to organize e-government migration initiatives of federal agencies under a single administrative umbrella. The law establishes an Office of Electronic Government within the Office of Management and Budget to provide the executive-level oversight, earmarking $345 million to stake such programs over the next four years. This report discusses the law's provisions as well as the effects that their implementation could have on information security, personal privacy, and the democratic process.
