Linux is moving rapidly into the enterprise sector, with strong backing from major industry players such as IBM and HP. This has resulted in development of a number of facilitating standards, including enterprise versions of the operating system from key vendors and standards group efforts to create robust basic versions of the software that will be capable of handling the rigorous needs of mission critical computing.
