Network management outsourcing remains a popular option, particularly within the SME market, as companies become more dependent upon network services, and issues such as security and downtime become more critical. Growth in this area has suffered under the current economic downturn, but it is expected to recover with the economy. The large facilities management outsourcers have mainly been affected, with smaller players and those offering specialty services generally doing fairly well. With larger enterprises long accustomed to outsourcing IT and network management, the main growth sector is with smaller companies. The market is adapting to serve smaller companies and take advantage of network services in a plethora of 'xSP' models, which provide for a new requirement for fractional outsourcing.
