The business of doing business today demands both a Web presence and an Internet strategy, with an estimated 36 million Web sites registered to enterprises public and private. The unshielded Web site, however, provides would-be attackers with a point of entrance into the network as well as a virtual playground for mischief. Even firewall-protected corporate intranets can be the target of security challenges. As such, precautionary anti-hacker defensive schemes can vary in scope from the prescient to the meticulous, but have become necessary parlance for e-business.
