A portal is a site accessed through the Internet that accumulates data, applications and services. It is intended to be a logical framework, accessible through an Internet browser, that allows an organization’s employees, customers, business partners and distribution channels to access information and business processes required for interaction, without the need for any software to be installed. Such content includes structured data from ERP, CRM, supply chain management, sales force automation and data warehousing systems, as well as other legacy applications, including mainframe. It also includes such unstructured information as e-mails, images and video streams.
