Soft Drinks Demand by Market in 2011

China's two-decade high economic growth has spurred the rapidly rising demand for consumption of soft drinks.

Since 1991, the country's soft drinks consumption has grown 17.6% annually. In 2001, the consumption of soft drinks increased to 131 billion yuan and Chinese domestic production reached 119280 million yuan. China's demand for soft drinks is forecast to advance to 227789 million yuan by the year 2006. As demand advanced at a rapid pace, China strives to increase soft drinks output, which is forecast to rise to 348140 million yuan by the year 2011. Soft drinks importation grew 22.9% annually, and increased to 11623 million yuan in 2001. Despite the new improvements in construction and capacity expansions, China's soft drinks kinds can not completely satisfy the people's taste. Some kinds of soft drinks still depend on importation from other countries. So China will continue to depend upon soft drinks imports through the next century.
