Retail volume sales of cigarettes continued to fall in 2011. However, the pace of decline slowed, compared to 2010, and was moderate. Further restrictions on smoking in public places and continued decrease in smoking prevalence weakened consumption. Nonetheless, current value sales of cigarettes grew in 2011, as a result of the falling retail volume share of economy cigarettes and price increases by two major players, British American Tobacco Korea and JT International Korea, in 2011.
