In August 2004 we produced our first report on the office products market in the USA. We are now looking to extend our coverage of the North American region by researching and publishing a companion study of the Office Products market in Mexico.

The objectives of this study will be as follows:

1 To identify the size of the office products market in Mexico in 2004, by product type.

2 For each product sector, to provide indications of key trends, major manufacturers and distribution channels used.

3 To outline any developments in office technology, demographics and purchasing behaviour affecting user demand for office products.

4 To document the structure of distribution of office products in Mexico, to identify the key players and to provide estimates of market shares by distribution channel in 2004.

5 To provide a forecast of market value to 2007 by product sector, and an estimate of distribution channel shares.

The report will be structured as follows:

INTRODUCTION

This section sets out a specification for the format and coverage of the proposed report.

SCOPE

Base Year

The base year of the study will be 2004: for comparison purposes product sector values for 2003 will also be supplied. Market forecasts to 2007 will also be given.

Region

The study will investigate consumption of office products in Mexico only. The report will not aim to provide a regional analysis, but demographic data will be presented in the report that will permit an estimate of overall market size by key Mexican region to be calculated.

End-User Market

The report will not aim to provide an analysis of the market by end-user type (ie sales to SMEs, sales to corporates etc), but demographic data will be presented in the report that will permit an estimate of overall sales to each sector to be made.

- Office & desk accessories: Glues, adhesive tapes, repositionable notes, scissors, staplers/staples/staple extractors, perforators/punches, letter trays, rubber bands & fasteners, batteries.
- Presentation & planning: Planning boards, wallboards, flipcharts & accessories, stock diaries & calendars.

Units

Values will be indicated in US dollars throughout. Volume sales in unit terms will not be supplied.
