Espicom Business Intelligence Ltd, July 2007, Pages: 42
Headquartered in Mansfield, Massachusetts, USA, Kendall markets a broad range of wound care, needles and syringes, vascular therapy, urological care, incontinence care and other products to hospitals and alternate site customers. The Kendall-LTP division also offers Devon operating room products, obstetric and neonatal products, personal protection and safety products and imaging supplies, and is an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) for other medical device companies. Uni-Patch also offers skin care and hot and cold therapy products.
Kendall is part of Covidien, a new independent, publicly-traded company which was previously Tyco International’s Healthcare division. Kendall had been a Tyco company since 1994 and its acquisition by Tyco represented that company’s entrance into the medical devices market.
Kendall’s operations are included within two of Covidien’s main divisions, as follows:-
Patient Care and Safety Products unit - Operates as part of Covidien’s larger Medical Devices segment. Includes Kendall’s vascular compression products, dialysis catheters, SharpSafety needles, syringes and sharps collection products, advanced wound care, urology, thermometry and enteral feeding products.
Covidien’s Medical Supplies segment - Offers traditional wound care products, absorbent hygiene products and operating room kits and accessories, and is also an OEM of medical supplies. The A&E business which was previously part of this division was sold in fiscal 2006 for gross proceeds of US$6 million.
