Mallinckrodt, headquartered in Hazelwood, Missouri, USA, manufactures medical imaging and pharmaceutical products. The company has been in the imaging business since 1913. It is an industry leader in this area, providing a line of contrast media and delivery systems, radiopharmaceuticals and urology imaging systems for the diagnosis and treatment of disease.
The company operates major manufacturing facilities in St Louis and Maryland Heights, Missouri, USA; as well as in Pettern, the Netherlands. Its urology products and contrast media injector equipment and accessories are offered by Mallinckrodt’s Liebel-Flarsheim business, based in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA. In addition to manufacturing and marketing products, the company has operated a network of radiopharmacies since 1983, with the first opened in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Houston and Philadelphia. Today, it has 36 facilities in the US and one in London, UK. Its radiopharmacy network supplies patient-specific unit dose radiopharmaceuticals to hospitals and clinics.
Mallinckrodt is part of Covidien, a new independent, publicly-traded company which was previously Tyco International’s Healthcare division. Mallinckrodt comprises Covidien’s Imaging Solutions and its Pharmaceutical Products segments.
