Valleylab, based in Boulder, Colorado, USA, is a market leader in the manufacture of advanced energy-based medical systems, including a complete line of electrosurgical generators, accessories and disposable products, a vessel sealing system, patient return electrodes, argon-enhanced electrosurgery systems, laparoscopic instruments and ablation systems.
The company has been a leader in electrosurgery systems for over 40 years. Currently, its key products include the recently-introduced ForceTriad tissue fusing and electrosurgery system, the LigaSure Vessel Sealing System and the Cool-tip Radiofrequency Ablation System. The company also gained new microwave ablation technology through its July 2005 acquisition of Vivant Medical, with microwave ablation products scheduled to be launched in 2008.
Valleylab is part of Covidien, a new independent, publicly-traded company which was previously Tyco International’s Healthcare division. Valleylab had been a Tyco Healthcare company since October 1998. It now comprises Covidien’s Energy-Based Devices operations which are part of the company’s Medical Devices segment.
