Outsourcing Energy Management
Ashgate Publishing, March 2007, Pages: 200
The long period of relatively low energy prices during the last decade mean that many organisations have lost the ability to design and implement an energy management programme to reduce energy consumption. Recent increases in energy prices mean that most organisations are facing energy cost increases of 30% to 50%, and energy prices now look set to remain high. In that time organisations have been down-sized and energy management skills have been lost, leaving them vulnerable to the sudden increase in energy prices and needing external assistance. These factors, coupled with increasing pressures to reduce carbon dioxide emissions to counter global warming, mean that a new generation of managers are facing the issues of how to address these energy problems. One approach is for organisations to outsource some, or all of, the energy management function. This book offers a comprehensive guide to outsourcing energy management, discusses the risks and benefits and takes managers through the process of deciding whether to outsource or not, and finding and assessing an outsourcing partner.
