Interactive TV has struggled to gain widespread popularity in Australia, while IPTV services have been launched by a number of Internet service providers and some TV manufacturers including Samsung, Sony and LG. However, concerns still remain about the emergence of a sustainable revenue model and the current lack of unified technical platforms.
Electronic program guides attempt to focus on the consumer by freeing them from the concept of watching live TV with the viewer able to watch what they want, when they want, and how little of the program to view by the time-shifting and fast-forwarding features.

Electronic program guide offerings launched in 2010 include Telstra with its T-Box, and FetchTV offering IPTV through Internet service providers such as Adam Internet, iiNet and Internode aimed squarely at drawing viewers away from the pay TV companies of Foxtel and AUSTAR.
This report provides an overview of the interactive TV, IPTV, and the electronic program guide markets in Australia.
