Business Issues and IT Priorities among US Healthcare Providers and Payers

Introduction This study examines top business challenges, IT budget outlook, and spending priorities among healthcare providers and payers in the US. It is based on the results of our US Healthcare Technology Decision Maker Panel, conducted in 2005 with a total of 207 healthcare provider and payer organizations.
Scope 103 healthcare provider interviews 104 healthcare payer interviews Geographic coverage includes the US Highlights Top of mind for healthcare providers are issues such as reducing medical errors, improving cash flow, and addressing regulatory compliance challenges.
Areas in which healthcare payers face challenges include disease management, member enrolments and sales & marketing.
The majority of healthcare organizations expect flat to moderate increases in IT budgets for 2006, with increases averaging 18% for providers and 11% for payers.
