Getting Louder: Broadband IP Telephony
In-Stat/MDR, Oct 2005, Pages: 33
Broadband customers are increasingly adopting VoIP solutions. While Broadband IP Telephony was once the choice of early adopters, it has quickly become a major factor impacting wireline services. As this new market grows, the number of service providers is growing and competition is driving lower prices and an increasing breadth of features, meaning more value to customers. This report contains five-year forecasts - for service subscribers, service revenues, subscribers by provider type and access technology, and market share.
This report found the following: Customer education and acceptance, including concerns over service quality are still major challenges for service providers. Loss of connectivity during power outages and E911 limitations remain concerns as well. At the end of 2004, we estimate there were over 1.3 million Broadband IP lines in use in the US, with growth projected to 3.9 million by the end of 2005.
