Audience of the Russian Media - Florida 2005

Full-scale study of the audience of the Russian-Language Mass Media in the South Florida Metropolitan Area. The study covers 3 counties: Miami-Dade County, Broward County and Palm Beach County. The study includes the demographic characteristics of the Russian-speakers, residing the South Florida Metro area. Data includes full demographic profile, sub-ethnic group data, and also data on sex, age groups, income, internet usage, areas of concentration, household and family size for all mass media, as well as data on reach of the mass media (number of people and market share), the audience structure of all Russian-language mass media (age, income, sex), listening patterns of the audience (time patters), and the comparative popularity of the media. It is the first independent study of the Russian-language mass media in the South Florida Metropolitan Area.
1. METHODOLOGY The Study of the Audience of the Russian-language Mass Media is a periodical Report. This study researches structure of the audience of the Russian-language mass media and general media consumption preferences of the Russian-speaking population of the South Florida Metropolitan Area. Data for this research was collected in September – October 2005.
1.1. DATA COLLECTION METHODS: Most of the data was collected by questionnaires, distributed through our network of locations in the area. Major locations were Russian book and grocery stores, concerts, fairs and restaurants. Also, telephone interviews were used (random numbers from registered data base were called and one respondent in the household whose birthday is closest was asked to answer the survey questions. Data was also collected through Internet Questionnaires: 1163 Telephone interviews: 500 Internet surveys: 270 Sample Size: 1933
1.2. SAMPLING ERROR Based on the sample size of 1933, the sampling error for this report is not greater than 4.4 points.
1.3. QUESTIONNAIRE Questionnaire consisted of 5 pages, with approximate 3.5 minutes filling-in time. Average response rate was 0.19.
