MOBILE COMMUNICATIONS Tanzania: Zantel’s New Frontiers Tanzania’s newly liberalized telecoms market has created a wide range of opportunities both in the fixed and mobile segment. Zanzibar Telecom (Zantel), Tanzania’s second national operator has been given new frontiers. From island operator, Zantel can now expand into mainland Tanzania to provide fixed and mobile services. We review this sometimes forgotten operator which is well positioned for growth.
