Calcined Soda Market in China 2005

Because of the accelerated growth of demand and decelerated outspread of the production capacity, the calcined soda industry steps into a rising era with the balance of demand and supply after getting rid of production surplus since 2003. The downstream industry is expected to maintain a growth rate at 10% or above, net exports will rise by 10%, the calcined soda demand of China will also rise by 10%, and annual demand will be 12.17 million tons, 13.37 million tons and 14.70 million tons respectively from 2004 to 2006.
Adjustments of the calcined soda industry's organizing structure, products structure, process route and regional layout structure are under way, and the superior enterprises may obtain more market shares thanks to the adjustments. The adjustment of the industrial structure will make the leading enterprises more competitive, and the industry will gain more profits.
The price of calcined soda in China decreased in the second quarter of 2003, with chief manufacturing enterprises' annual average product price less than 900 yuan per ton, decreased by 9% compared with that of 2002. Therefore, the profit margin descended. At the end of 2003, the price of calcined soda began to increase, and in the first quarter of 2004, calcined soda's price has been raised to 1000 Yuan per ton, and the price may remain high if the supply and demand remain balanced, thus, the calcined soda enterprises' may gain more profits.
