Over the five years to 2010, households have increasingly outsourced services such as gardening, housecleaning and baby-sitting as. At the same time, however, the recession in the past couple years has caused high rates of unemployment, which have reduced incomes and increased free time. As a result, demand for industry services has slowed. As the economy recovers and people return to the workforce, growth is forecast to bounce back.
