The global demand for oil in 2006 was 83.72m b/d, whereas supply was 81.71m b/d (excluding the biomass and coal derivatives). The global consumption of gas in 2006 was 2,850 billion cubic meters (bcm), whereas the supply was 2,865bcm. The consumption of oil is dominated by North America, constituting 30% of the consumption of the global market, followed by Europe & Eurasia, and China.
