About Surfactants

Surface active agents are popularly known as surfactants. Surfactants are materials that can significantly reduce the surface tension between two liquids or between a solid and a liquid. They display hydrophilic and lipophilic properties. Foaming, detergency, dispersion, penetration, and wetting effect are the important characteristics of surfactants. Based on their application, they are mixed with pH boosters or builders.

The analysts forecast the global surfactants market to grow at a CAGR of 6.02% over the period 2015-2019.

The Author Announces the Publication of its Research Report – Global Surfactants Market 2015-2019

The following companies are recognized as the key players in the global surfactants market: Air Products & Chemicals, AkzoNobel, Evonik Industries, Henkel and Huntsman

Other Prominent Vendors in the market are: BASF, Clariant, Croda International, Dow Chemical, Dupont, KAO and Stepan

Commenting on the report, an analyst from the research team said: “An increase in awareness of the harmful aspects of synthetic surfactants has resulted in a shift to bio-based surfactants. Health and environmental risks concerned with synthetic surfactants have forced governments to impose regulations to protect the environment and the consumers. However, the growing popularity of bio-based surfactants is dependent on recovering economies and high disposable incomes.”

According to the report, growing awareness about personal grooming because of urbanization, higher disposable incomes, as well as increased demand for green products is driving the market. This has increased the use of amphoteric surfactants, which are predominantly used in personal care products. The markets in APAC and Latin America are expected to grow rapidly in the future because of increased per capita expenditure on personal care products. China accounts for the largest share in the market for beauty and cosmetic products, followed by India and Brazil.

Further, the report states that awareness of bio-based surfactants is growing as countries, aware of the health and environment risks of using synthetic surfactants, are imposing strict regulations.

The study was conducted using an objective combination of primary and secondary information including inputs from key participants in the industry. The report contains a comprehensive market and vendor landscape in addition to a SWOT analysis of the key vendors.
