The automotive lighting market is projected to reach $29.5 Billion by 2020 from $20.1 billion in 2015. Asia-Oceania holds the largest share in the global automotive lighting market. This can be attributed to low manufacturing cost in countries like China and India and growing demand for vehicles. China is the largest market for automotive lighting in Asia-Oceania. The European and North American automotive lighting markets are solely driven by innovations, while increasing competition from emerging economies in Asia-Oceania and RoW has been an additional challenge for them.

The key drivers of the automotive lighting market are increasing vehicle sales and production and technological advancements triggered by growing safety concerns and stringent lighting regulations. However, factors such as fluctuating raw material prices and high cost of R&D could limit the growth of the market.

Although existing technologies such as halogen and incandescent are widely used, newer technologies such as xenon and LED have been gaining momentum in the markets of Europe and North America. In 2014, Asia-Oceania was the largest manufacturer of automotive lighting. Factors such as low-cost labor and increasing vehicle demand are prompting major OEMs to set up manufacturing plants in the region. Countries such as China, India, Japan, and South-Korea account for a significant share of automotive lighting production in Asia-Oceania.
