About EEG and EMG Equipment
EEG and EMG equipment are used to monitor and record electrical activity in the brain and muscles, respectively. The most important clinical use of EEG is in the diagnosis of epilepsy. It is also used to diagnose brain dysfunction, sleep disorders, dementia, coma, and brain death. Earlier, EEG was also used often in the diagnosis of brain tumor and head injury. However, its use has declined in these cases because of the availability of other imaging techniques such as CT scan and MRI that provide high resolution anatomical images.

The analysts forecast the global EEG/EMG equipment market to grow at a CAGR of 7.57% over the period 2014-2019.

The author Announces the Publication of its Research Report – Global EEG-EMG Equipment Market 2015-2019

The author recognizes the following companies as the key players in the Global EEG-EMG Equipment Market: Cadwell Laboratories, Compumedics, Natus Medical, Nihon Kohden and Medtronic

Other Prominent Vendors in the market are: Advanced Brain Monitoring, CAS Medical Systems, Delsys, EBNeuro, Electrical Geodesics, ELEKTA, EMS Biomedical, Integra Life Sciences, Masimo, Motion Lab Systems, Neurosoft Company, NeuroWave Systems and Noraxon USA

Commenting on the report, an analyst from the team said: “Some neuromonitoring devices are wearable, with EEG or EMG sensors that track brain or muscular activities. These devices equate to enhanced portability and ease of use for patients as well as technicians. Wearable EEG devices are also used to detect the environment's effect on an individual's brain activities. In addition, they are also popular in sports, as they can detect muscle effort and fatigue. The availability of these wearable forms is expected to propel market growth during the forecast period.”

According to the report, EEG/EMG equipment is used to diagnose neurological disorders such as epilepsy, dementia, multiple sclerosis, and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. The primary clinical use of EEG is to diagnose epilepsy. According to WHO, epilepsy will affect 50 million people worldwide by 2015, with 80% of patients living in low and middle-income countries. Further, approximately 2.4 million people are diagnosed with epilepsy every year worldwide. EMG is used as a diagnostic procedure for neuromuscular disorders. Duchenne-Becker muscular dystrophy affects one out of every 5,600-7,700 males between five and 24 years old in the US. The need for early diagnosis and for brain activity monitoring during the treatment of neurological disorders could drive market growth in the future.

Further, the report states that the availability of other neuroimaging techniques hinders market growth.

The study was conducted using an objective combination of primary and secondary information including inputs from key participants in the industry. The report contains a comprehensive market and vendor landscape in addition to a SWOT analysis of the key vendors.
