Data Backup among Small Business: Triggers & Types 


Description: 1000 small businesses- approximately 500 have a dedicated (non-PC) server and 500 do not. In order to be eligible for the survey, all respondents were required to have a network and no more than a total of twenty desktop and laptop PCs.

Question(s): What would you say most commonly triggers your company’s data backup activity? What sort of backup is conducted?

Analysis: As new storage systems are positioned for market entry, it is important for manufacturers and vendors to understand exactly how small businesses perceive and perform data backup. Such information provides very concise insights into real storage needs – both current and future – and to what extent these needs are (or will be) addressed.

Specifically, this Q&A identifies and examines the ways in which networked small business back up their data.
